Honda doesn't have official EPA fuel economy estimates just yet but a spokesperson did say that Honda's internal testing showed a 50% increase in city fuel economy over the now-base 190-hp 1.5-liter turbo, which would put the new CR-V Hybrid's city number around 42 miles per gallon. The current Accord Hybrid gets a 47 mpg city/47 mpg highway/47 mpg combined EPA estimate with the same powertrain.

The CRV-Hybrid Model
The CR-V Hybrid marks the first application of all-wheel drive to Honda's two-motor hybrid system in the U.S.

  • The CR-V's advanced two-motor hybrid powertrain, shared with the current Accord Hybrid, combines two electric motors with a 2.0-liter, 16-valve DOHC Atkinson cycle engine with greater than 40 percent thermal efficiency, the highest for any mass-produced Honda engine.

  • Detailed specifications on the new CR-V Hybrid, including EPA fuel economy ratings, will be provided closer to on-sale timing early in 2020.

  • The CR-V Hybrid will be quicker off the line and more fuel efficient, with about a 50 percent increase in city fuel economy, compared to its non-hybrid counterpart, with greater EV operating range than top competitors.
